On this beautiful bay arrives an European man for the very first time on November 2nd, 1502. It received its name from the great admiral Christopher Columbus, who when seeing it, said “Portobelo!”. Since that moment, this town was intended to be an important place in the strategies for the Conquest of Southamerica
On this beautiful bay arrives an European man for the very first time on November 2nd, 1502. It received its name from the great admiral Christopher Columbus, who when seeing it, said “Portobelo!”. Since that moment, this town was intended to be an important place in the strategies for the Conquest of Southamerica.
Panama Outdoors invited you to join us in a kayaking tour on this magnificent bay, visiting its marvelous fortifications and enjoying its natural beauty. Also enjoy our tour guide’s historical explanation who will tell us about all the events that happened during the five (5) centuries that had passed since it was discover.
The tour begins at 7 am, when our transportation will pick you up at your hotel, we will travel during 1 ½ hours to Portobelo town where we will take ours kayaks and begin our tour. With our own effort, we will paddle during three (3) to four (4) hours. When we get to half of our tour in Portobelo Bay, we will visit historical monuments and enjoy of (healthy) snacks.
After this we will continue paddling to the bay’s mouth where we will visit Huerta Beach and Drake Island, where the legends tells that Francis Drake, the legendary British sailor, was buried using an iron coffin. After a short dive on Huerta beach, we will return to our starting point crossing the beautiful mouth of Portobelo Bay |
Once in the dock we will enjoy a delicious Caribbean meal and the stories of our team. Then, we will pack and get ready for our trip back to Panama City.
All the tour has a duration of 7 to 8 hours.
Wear comfortable clothing, that cover the must possible your body. Wear boots for hiking or sport shoes that cover all your foot. Bring clothing for change at the end of the tour, repellent, hat and sun block.
- If you are out side of Panamá and want to book, please pay 30 days or more, before the tour.
- If you are a resident or you are here in Panamá, please pay your tour a week or more, before your tour.
- If you tray to book with less time indicate here, we will try to serve you, but we can not guaranty the service.
Some ones of the tours need to have good weather to do the activities.
